BRYCE TAGGART STANFIELD ’24

2002–2024

BRYCE TAGGART STANFIELD ’24 died on Feb. 9, 2024, surrounded by his family and his Furman family. Born on Sept. 19, 2002, in Newnan, Georgia, he was the only child of Fred and Teri Stanfield.

The junior health sciences major from Acworth, Georgia, was a defensive tackle on the Furman Paladins football team. He was an outstanding role model, a friend to all, an exceptional student, a great football player and all-around wonderful human being. Bryce excelled in the classroom and aspired to attend dental school after Furman. He equally shined on the football field and was beloved by his family, friends, teammates and coaches. He loved engaging local youth by serving in the Heller Service Corps’ Men of Distinction, reading to children in local schools and visiting pediatric patients at the Greenville Children’s Hospital. Furman President Elizabeth Davis conferred Bryce’s Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences, magna cum laude, during a private ceremony in February attended by family, football teammates and coaches.

About Class Notes

We welcome your submissions to Class Notes. Due to the amount of material Furman receives for this section – and the time needed to edit that material – items are often not published until six months after they are submitted. However, please be advised that we rarely publish items more than 18 months old and no announcements of things that have not yet occurred. When sending news of births, please include the parent name(s), child’s name, birthdate, and city of birth; for marriages, include the city and date of the event, the new spouse’s name, and his/her year of graduation if from Furman. News about couples who graduated from Furman in different years is listed under the earliest graduation date. It is not listed with both classes. Incomplete information for any of the above may result in the submission remaining unpublished. The magazine reserves the right to edit submissions.
