Furman offers students the opportunity to study away in New Zealand through our Affiliate Program Partners. We offer options to study away in both the fall and spring semesters.


Massey University – Palmerston North

Established as an agricultural college in 1879, Massey was awarded university status in 1964. Massey’s Manawatu campus in Palmerston North is New Zealand’s largest institution for the life sciences, agricultural (ranked 30th in the world), horticultural and veterinary teaching (ranked 29th in the world), and research. The Massey University Business School is AACSB accredited.

Students become a full-time semester student at Massey Palmerston-North, pursuing courses taught by the University’s faculty members with other four-year students. Regular assignments and testing are atypical of New Zealand-based learning. Rather studen’s final grade is based on only one or two exams for the term. Massey palmerston-North is best fit for students studying Earth & Environmental Sciences and also offers courses in Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Education, Information Technology, Sustainability Science.

The Massey University Palmerston-North runs in the fall semester from mid-July through mid-November and the spring semester from mid-February through late-June.

University of Otago

The University of Otago is New Zealand’s most research-intensive university and is the country’s top-ranked university for research quality. Otago also enjoys an international reputation for the quality of its teaching and is a world leader in many fields. Particular academic strengths are in Geology and Ecology as well as the Biomedical and Health Sciences, Economics, Marketing and Tourism; Philosophy, Psychology, Theology and History. The University of Otago School of Business is AACSB accredited.
