Furman offers students the opportunity to study away in Australia through our Affiliate Program Partners. We offer options to study away in both the fall and spring semesters.


Bond University

Bond University, located on the Gold Coast, is Australia’s first private university one of the only universities in Australia with an academic calendar similar to that of the U.S., and offering a personalized academic environment and student body of approximately 4,200.

Students become a full-time semester student at Bond University, pursuing courses taught by Bond’s faculty members with other four-year Bond students. Regular assignments and testing are atypical of Australian-based learning. Rather student’s final grade is based on only one or two exams for the term. Bond is best fit for students studying Business, Communication or Health Sciences (focusing on sport sciences) and also offers courses in Biology, Chemistry, Politics & International Affairs, and Psychology.

University of Newcastle

As one of Australia’s most naturally beautiful campuses, the University of Newcastle’s Callaghan campus is a great fit for students seeking an engaging learning environment combined with opportunities on this bushland campus. Located two hours from Sydney, Newcastle is also just a short distance from the Lower Hunter Valley, a region famous for its national parks.

Students become a full-time semester student at the University of Newcastle, pursuing courses taught by Newcastle’s faculty members with other four-year university students. Regular assignments and testing are atypical of Australian-based learning. Rather student’s final grade is based on only one or two exams for the term. The University of Newcastle offers a wide range of courses including: Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Education, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Sociology.

The University of Newcastle runs in the fall semester from mid-July through mid-November and the spring semester from mid-February through late-June.
