Dr. Lance Vischer began teaching economics and business statistics in 1999 at the University of Kentucky while a Ph.D. candidate.  Prior to that, he was a leading sales and marketing manager for a tire franchise out of Jackson, MI.  In 2002, Vischer moved to South Carolina to become a professor of business and economics at Southern Wesleyan University teaching economics, marketing, consumer behavior, and e-commerce strategies, as well as business research and statistics.  While at Southern Wesleyan, he coached women and men’s cross-country teams, and in 2005, the NAIA Region XIII named him Coach of the Year.

In August 2009, Dr. Vischer became an adjunct Instructor of economics at Furman University teaching principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics, managerial economics, public finance, as well as money and banking.  In 2012, Furman University Evening Studies recognized him as the Outstanding Instructor of the Year.  In order to prepare college graduates for the workplace, Dr. Vischer focuses on real-world application, problem-solving and probing. He encourages students to look at all sides of an issue, and critically apply the models and applications learned in the classroom to real-life situations.

Currently, Vischer also teaches principles of economics, microeconomics, and macroeconomics at Greenville Technical College (GTC) as an associate professor, and in 2013, he became the Department Head for Behavioral and Social Sciences responsible for faculty oversight across six disciplines and for the implementation of GTC’s programs, policies, and procedures.
