Using music to teach the lessons of life
Furman graduate Adam Scheuch is band director at Mauldin High School. And on Aug. 14, he learned he had been named Greenville County Schools’ Teacher of the Year for 2014-15. Scheuch said he sees himself as a life coach, and he uses music to instill qualities like leadership and teamwork as he helps his students grow to become the best they can be. A National Board Certified teacher, Scheuch graduated from Furman in 1998 with a bachelor’s of music in instrumental education before earning a master’s in music education from from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.
