Furman alumna Verdin ’92 elected to SC Supreme Court
Letitia H. Verdin, a 1992 Furman University biology alumna, was unanimously elected by the South Carolina legislature to the state’s highest court on June 5. She will take Justice John Kittredge’s seat on the SC Supreme Court bench when he assumes the role of chief justice following the retirement of now Chief Justice Don Beatty on July 31, 2024. Verdin, a Court of Appeals judge, received her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She is the third woman in South Carolina history to hold a Supreme Court seat.
