Local TV stations cover Joseph Vaughn Day
Several news outlets covered Furman University’s celebration of Joseph Vaughn Day, which was observed Friday, Jan. 26. Vaughn ’68 was the first African American to enroll at the university. Furman also presented the inaugural Idella Goodson Glenn Outstanding Black Alumni Award named for the 1984 alumna and former Furman assistant vice president for student development, assistant dean for diversity and inclusion and director of multicultural affairs. Erica Johnson ’07, first president of the Black Alumni Council, was the recipient of the award. FOX Carolina, WYFF News 4 and WSPA 7News covered the event.
