Furman’s Asian Garden, Place of Peace in the spotlight
During National Garden Week, FOX Carolina’s Hayley Spitler took the opportunity to visit the Asia Garden and the Place of Peace on the campus of Furman University. Spitler spoke with Furman’s Joey Davis, a horticulturist, who explained the history of the garden and the inclusive nature of the landscape including varieties of Japanese maple, lizard tail, bamboo and iris. Davis spoke about the koi pond at the center of the garden as well as the adjacent Place of Peace, the first Japanese temple ever to be dismantled and reconstructed in America.
