Hello!

Congratulations on your decision to attend Furman! We are so excited that you will join us this fall, and hope that this note finds you eager to get started.

We want to make sure that throughout the summer you are fully informed about everything pertaining to your first year at Furman. It is important that you check your e-mail regularly. We will begin e-mailing you at your new Furman.edu e-mail address. Soon we will communicate soley to your Furman.edu e-mail address.

There is a lot of information included below, so please read through it carefully and thoroughly.

Let’s get started!

As you have probably realized, Furman relies heavily on technology to communicate with our students. We also depend on numerous web-based tools for a variety of administrative details like housing assignments and hosting important activities that will prepare you for academic advising and your academic course registration. It is imperative for you to develop a familiarity with how to navigate and use the range of web-based platforms at Furman.

Your Furman Network Credentials are ready!

It’s official! You are now able to access your Furman network credentials, which include your username, student ID number, and a temporary password. You received two e-mails from “Furman Accounts <noreply.accounts@furman.onmicrosoft.com>” with this information. Please double check any spam or junk folders, as this e-mail may be redirected there.

Begin familiarizing yourself with the technology resources available by reviewing this website. There are helpful new student resources, including a technology orientation and list of ways to get ready to use technology at Furman.

Questions about network access should be directed to the Information Technology Service Center via e-mail at service.center@furman.edu.

New@FU

New@FU is Furman’s interactive online platform designed to assist with your transition to college. Click here to access the site using your Furman network credentials.

New@FU has seven sections that will introduce you to various aspects of life at Furman, highlight support services and resources available to you, and outline expectations of all Furman students. Those sections include:

  • Welcome
  • Academics
  • Campus Life
  • Student Support
  • Finances
  • Safety and Policies
  • Next Steps

The platform is designed for you to navigate at your own pace. In total, it will take about 1-2 hours to complete, but does not need to be completed in one sitting. A lot of information is covered, so you may return to the platform as often as needed. You should fully complete New@FU by June 1.

Please note, the “Next Steps” section includes a checklist of tasks that you are required to complete. These tasks include completing the New Student Survey and other academic tasks, completing your Housing Lifestyle form, and submitting your medical and immunization records. You must first complete the other sections of the platform before you can access the checklist and instructions for completing these mandatory tasks. Some tasks may not be available for completion until later in the summer, so be sure to refer to the checklist frequently.

Access Workday Student

Workday Student is Furman’s official system of record and database for all student records. This is where you will register for classes, monitor progress toward your degree, view financial and billing information, and access many other important tasks. To begin, there will be a number of new student onboarding tasks you will be required to complete.

To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Log into Workday using your Furman username and password
    • You’ll be prompted to install DUO on your phone, a dual authentication service required to sign into Workday. You can find additional instructions for setting up DUO here.
  2. Click on your inbox to view and begin completing your onboarding tasks.
    • You’ll have several tasks to complete initially, so once you finish a group of tasks click refresh for the next.
    • You do not need to complete all of these tasks at once, but you are encouraged to complete them as soon as possible.
  3. Check Workday throughout the summer, as additional tasks may appear.
  4. If you have trouble accessing Workday, please e-mail workday@furman.edu for assistance.
