IEJ Global Humanities Working Group

February 8 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

An offshoot of the original Global Humanities Working Group, this research community explores ways that decentering Western perspectives in our curricula might inform the design of IEJ general education courses. This two-year working group brings together scholars whose research concentrates on IEJ related topics: including but not limited to racial justice; gender and sexuality; climate change and its social impacts; religion and cultural diversity. For year one we will collaborate to develop resources that will support colleagues interested in developing IEJ courses while simultaneously diversifying the voices from which our students learn. Such resources might include, but are not limited to: Foundational readings; Sample syllabi; Classroom protocols and pedagogical practices; Example assignments and prompts; Grading rubrics; Documentation of online research resources. The FHC provides a modest stipend to recognize full participation in this program across the academic year. With representation from all academic divisions, the broadest aim of this group is to learn from each other in ways that might foster new approaches to teaching and learning across campus and thereby contribute to the growth of our curricula.
