Career & Internship Fair
Our campus-wide Career & Internship Fair takes place in the Fall Semester. This event offers a prime opportunity to connect with talented students and showcase your career opportunities. Employers must be invited to the Fair in order to participate.
Furman Engaged
Seek out passionate talent by attending student presentations showcasing the culmination of their engaged learning experiences (research projects, internships, and study away experiences). Furman Engaged provides students the opportunity to publicly share their work with peers, faculty, staff, and the community.
OTHER WAYS TO ENGAGE
Have a group of extremely talented Furman students visit your organization through a Paladin Career Trek. Treks incorporate a networking event with alumni in each city and are ideal for career exploration, industry exposure, and professional development opportunities.
WHAT IS A PALADIN CAREER TREK?
Treks are opportunities to explore industries, organizations, and careers across the nation. Treks last for 3 days and visit 3-4 organizations. Treks incorporate a networking event with alumni in each city and are ideal for career exploration, industry exposure, and professional development opportunities.
HOW MANY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN A TREK?
Numbers range, but in most cases, there are no more than 30 students attending a Trek. Each cohort includes at least one staff and one faculty member.
HOW ARE THE STUDENTS SELECTED?
Students must complete a competitive application process in order to be selected for participation.
HOW ARE COMPANIES AND CITIES SELECTED FOR TREKS?
Trek cities and companies are chosen based on the following criteria:
- Student surveys and feedback
- Faculty surveying
- Alumni participation in metropolitan areas
- Industry research
- Company requests
WHEN DO TREKS TAKE PLACE?
Treks typically occur during breaks in the academic year: early October (Fall Break), early January (Winter Break), and early May (start of Summer). Additionally, we trek to local companies within proximity to Furman throughout the academic year.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SITE VISIT?
Below is a typical example of a company visit during a Trek:
- Arrival, introductions, and company overview (30-45 mins).
- Walking tour of company/faculty (30 mins-1 hour).
- HR presentation (i.e., present entry level jobs, internship programs, management training programs, and candidate application processes (15-30 mins).
