GREENVILLE, S.C.— The Furman University Chamber Choir will present “Sing We and Chant It!,” a concert of Renaissance madrigals Tuesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. in Daniel Recital Hall.
Admission is open to the public free of charge.
Under the direction of the chair of the Furman Department of Music Dr. William Thomas, the Furman Chamber Choir performance will also feature music faculty Dr. Charles Tompkins (harpsichord) and Dr. Steven Walter (lute).
The Chamber Choir will present music about love, lust and longing from 16th century England, France and Italy. Composers of these Renaissance works include Thomas Morley, Claudio Monteverdi, Orlando Gibbons, Orlandus Lassus and John Dowland.
Comprised of Furman's finest singing musicians, the Chamber Choir is highly acclaimed. In a choral program noted for its excellence, the choir is committed to thorough preparation and inspired performance of a wide spectrum of traditional and contemporary choral music.
