377.8 Use of Furman Facilities by Off-Campus Religious Organizations |
A. Background Furman is committed to the free exercise of religion by every member of the campus community. It does not, however, have a legal or moral obligation to provide facilities for every off-campus group that may apply, especially for those that merely wish to use the campus to recruit Furman students for their particular cause. |
B. Policy Off-campus religious groups seeking permission to use Furman facilities must be approved by the University Chaplain. |
C. Guidelines 1. All requests must be in writing and must be submitted to the appropriate facility supervisor. 2. The facility supervisor will forward a copy of all requests from religious groups to the Chaplain's office for review. 3. Responsibility to grant exceptions to this policy rests with the President of the University. ........................... |
